Papakōlea youth challenge us to see through their eyes, hearts, and souls the most significant healt issues facing our communities. They share the concerns and creativity through drawings, poety, haiku, photographs and journaling, compelling the reader to explore intergenerational health and emotional issues not discussed in schools, homes or society today. Topics once seen as taboo are being explored by these outh who want all to know that they see and are impacted by what is happening around them.
The authors of Kukalahale hope their sharing will start a frank, honest discussion on the challenges that face all families...a wind of change that brings parents, children and communities together in the spirit of healing.
