Introduction to Community

Mahalo to the organizations and volunteers who made the day a success!

Kick off for the Ku'Ike program, a partnership of community and school to improve
the literacy of Keiki.

Parents and Keiki are introduced to reading, math and science programs from the
Leap Frog educational system.

Keiki get a "hands on"  try with the Leap Pad reader.

Ku'Ike partners community and the Lincoln Elementary School.  Students learn from Lincoln Elementary teachers on the Leap Pad system, completing questions while earning points for carnival prizes.

Leap Pad also has programs for teens, with math curricula appropriate
for their age and grade.

Leap Frog curriculum includes audio and visual cues reinforcing learning.

Leap Pad can be used to reinforce learning provided by parents.

Dr. Dominic Chow answers questions on asthma, Ku'Ike partners with the University
of Hawaii School of Medicine to address all factors that may impede a child's educational
progress.

Puni ran the final station, asking kids to solve a problem with the Leap Pad system.
Once the kids completed all of the Leap Pad learning stations, they had access to fun
activities at the carnival.
